LG전자, 물 필요 없는 'CO2 세탁기' 만든다

LG전자가 물이나 기름 대신 이산화탄소로 의류를 세탁하는 'CO2 세탁기'를 본격적으로 개발합니다.

LG전자의 CO2 세탁기는 물 또는 기름을 사용하지 않고, 세탁기 내부에서 이산화탄소를 냉각, 압축해 액체 상태로 만들어 세탁 용제로 사용합니다. 세탁이 끝나면 이산화탄소를 기화·재수집해 다음 세탁에 재사용합니다.

LG전자는 자사 실험실 내에서 해당 세탁기를 실험 운용해 안전성을 검증한 후, 향후 임시허가 전환을 통해 일부 세탁소 내에 설치할 예정입니다.

LG Electronics' CO2 washing machine does not use water or oil, but cools and compresses carbon dioxide inside the washing machine to make it liquid and uses it as a washing solvent. After washing, vaporize and re-collect carbon dioxide and reuse it for the next washing.

LG Electronics plans to test-run the washing machine in its laboratory to verify its safety, and then install it in some laundry facilities through temporary permission conversion in the future.
